Superman Never Made Any Money

We live in a society in which we are regularly yearning for the next hero.  From the X-Men to Harry Potter, we are always looking for the next person to save the day.  A video game titled Call of Duty: Black Ops, recently earned 350 million dollars in the first 24 hours of its release.  This game set an entertainment record by placing the gamer in a number of campaigns throughout the world for killing the bad guy and restoring peace and justice.

As I was walking through our lobby today watchin the children playing with the toys waiting to see our counselors, I got to thinking how badly we need real heroes in our lives.  These heroes need not wear a mask or carry a gun though, they simply need to stand up for what is right.  At one specific point in their lives, these kids needed someone, anyone to be a hero and no one answered the “call of duty.”

The day that everyone starts saying and doing the right thing on a regular basis will be the same day that I start seeing fewer people sitting in our lobbies.  Stop waiting for Superman, he’s not coming.  We need you to step up in his place.

The Crash Test Dummies says it all in one of my favorite songs….
